Happy New Year

January 1, 2018

I’m excited to kick off 2018 because this year I will be celebrating NERDSHOCK 5th Anniversary. It’s exactly five years since I officially launched the NERDSHOCK Project. Even though I’m fully aware things didn’t quite go the way I planned when I started off, I’m happy to still be here & motivated to show NERDSHOCK a whole lotta more love!

Looking Forward To

I’m a nostalgic person, but I decided to not share a list of my 2017 favourites. That year is behind us now. I’m more than happy to look forward to all the awesomeness that is coming our way in 2018 ♥

In my Thoughts on E3 2017 post I already mentioned a couple of titles that I’m keeping my eye on. I haven’t been able to pre-order the titles I want to pick up on release day just yet, but I definitely want to buy God of War, Detroit: Become Human and The Last of Us II. Hahah yes, those are all PlayStation 4 exclusive titles.

Last year I’ve been able to catch 38 movies in the cinema. This year I again plan on using my Pathé Unlimited Gold subscription to the fullest and watch a bunch of movies on the big screen. Titles I would love to catch in IMAX 3D – maybe even 4DX when available – are Pacific Rim: Uprising, Avengers: Infinity War, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald.

Of course a whole New Year also brings challenges. Last year I managed to score a Senior Position at the office together with three other co-workers. Our additional training was delayed, but we will finally be able to go at it this month. I’ve been struggling to stay motivated after 4 years in my ‘old’ position and welcome the new challenge, but I’m also aware that it might be time to look for a whole new job at a totally different company.

I’m still busy wrapping up my Communication Science degree. My first semester didn’t quite go well because I was focused on scoring that Senior Position and wasn’t quite happy about the way I was preparing for courses and wrapping up assignments. I don’t plan to give up again and will simply be diligent and study study study.

Just when the year was almost over and I thought I had 2018 all planned out, my family was confronted with sad news. Before Christmas my mum was diagnosed with lung cancer. She has just started to whole process of getting a full diagnosis and setting up a treatment plan. I don’t have much details I can share openly and I don’t think I will be sharing much details later on, but I know this will significantly affect my family and I in 2018.

NERDSHOCK 5th Anniversary

I don’t want to wrap this New Year’s post up with a whole list of challenges. Let’s not forget, we’re celebrating the fact it’s been five years since I kicked off the NERDSHOCK Project. I don’t have any plans for crazy give aways just yet, but you can bet I will be pouring a lot of love and attention into my blog this year. So be sure to stick around for fresh blogposts & more awesomeness!
