Even though the NERDSHOCK HQ website officially launched at the start of 2013, I started the NERDSHOCK Project 12 years ago today. Because I missed celebrating the 10th anniversary of NERDSHOCK HQ, I want to take a moment to reminisce the day it all began.
I still remember October 3rd, 2012. I had been running my semi-personal blog elocutio.nu for about 4 years. I had already drifted away from my online diary pour-soi.net (2005-2009) before and again found myself at a crossroads. For the last couple of years I didn’t really write personal diary entries, but loved writing about various lifestyle related topics. I felt I was ready to take the leap and go full in on running an independent lifestyle blog.
There was only one problem. I didn’t think elocutio.nu was a great name for a lifestyle blog. The word elocutio comes from the Latin word loquor, “to speak”. Elocutio typically refers to rhetorical style. Similar terms are eloquence and elocution. (?) I needed a name that would fit being an enthusiast, something that would catch the feeling of that energizing spark when indulging in geeky interests. It had to be NERDSHOCK ⚡
I couldn’t sleep, because I was feeling restless thinking of starting a new project. I got out of bed, powered up my computer and immediatly checked if the domain name was still available. It was! I registered nerdshock.com, changed my social media handles, signed up for a new PSN account & created a fresh YouTube page. Haha yes, I was pretty thorough.
It’s been 12 years and I have finally relaunched NERDSHOCK HQ. I have even started uploading to YouTube again, after previously removing all of my old videos. I’m not sure how much time I have, I’m currently feeling pretty good. Unfortunately I’m very much aware that health stuff (or life in general) can always mess things up. I’m still happy I’ve never let go of NERDSHOCK and definitely plan on going all in for now 💜
